We were getting very excited to host our first wedding at Te Mata House at the end of November. Sadly, due to the ongoing issues with delta, our beautiful couple have decided to postpone their wedding till this time next year. Same goes for our January 2022 bride.

Instead of dwelling on the negative, we’re keeping a positive outlook and are excited that we already have three weddings booked for next year!

One Fine Day (OFD), a highly regarded wedding planner based in Queenstown, manages all weddings at Te Mata House. Kath at OFD works closely with couples and their chosen suppliers to create a dream wedding. Our job at Te Mata House, is to ensure the property looks absolutely stunning for the big day!

Come November, the garden absolutely steps up to the challenge! The abundant Sally Holmes roses on the front lawn are opening. The lavender balls and catmint are in full flower bringing a striking purple tinge against the green lawn. The white hydrangeas are emerging, and this year is the best display of white wisteria we’ve seen overhanging the pergolas. The giant pohutukawa is in full bud and soon will release its bouquet of red flowers. And the vast sea of chardonnay vines is in green leaf. 

We can’t wait to see the excitement of brides and bridesmaids getting ready in The Cottage with bubbles and beautiful dresses, looking forward to the wonderful celebration ahead. And the grooms and groomsmen enjoying a drink in the whiskey room as they wait for the ceremony to begin.

With canapes and champagne on the lawn, marquee on the arena, a stunning backdrop of vines on one side and an historic homestead on the other, Te Mata House truly is a special place to say, “I do”.
