10 things to do at Te Mata House

When you decide to spend some time with us either for a holiday, a romantic getaway, family vacation or a business trip, you won’t regret it.

From the moment you step into the gates of the property, you’ll find there are many things to do here.

1.     Grab a Bean Bag and Relax
There are plenty of outdoor areas to relax in with a book or a glass of wine (or both!)

 2.     Ask your Host for a Garden and Heritage Tour
Te Mata House is famous for its history and landscape design. Join us for a tranquil tour around the gardens.

3.     Enjoy a Grazing Platter in the Garden
Along with the best local produce in the area, we have the perfect setup for a picnic. Grab your rug, order a delicious grazing platter with your host and enjoy!

 4.     Take a Dip in the Pool
Even though the pool is not heated, it offers a relaxing and calm environment for a summer swim. Don’t forget to have a soak in our spa beside the pool, perfect for the cooler months.

5.     Enjoy a Glass of Wine or Whiskey in the Whiskey Room
Hawke’s Bay offers a wide variety of wines. Te Mata Estate Winery, Craggy Range and Black Barn are all very close to Te Mata House. Enjoy your favourite wine, whiskey or gin in our cosy Whiskey Room.

6.     Play Tennis
Rackets and balls are accessible in your room. Don’t worry if you are not an expert, have fun! Classes are also available on request.

7.     Say Hi to our Alpacas and Sheep
Larry, Gary, Poncho, Fred and Juliette are always happy to see guests around. Although they are not overly friendly, they do enjoy being left some food. Ask your host for some nuts or hay.

8.     Have a Go on our Flying Fox
Our treehouse is a favourite for the young ones, but sometimes the grown-ups can’t resist having a go too! Have a try!

9.     Go for a Bike Ride
We have four beautiful modern townie bikes ready for you to ride! Grab one and enjoy one of the many trails accessible in Hawke’s Bay. Remember to take your helmet and water bottle!

10.  Enjoy Our Garden Games
Games such as Croquet, Boules, Jenga or Giant Noughts and Crosses are available for you to enjoy in the garden!

A holiday at Te Mata House will never be boring. Make a plan to visit and enjoy all these activities!
