GARDEN & HERITAGE VISITS
Around every corner, a new view…
Garden enthusiasts are invited to spend some time exploring our peaceful Paul Bangay-designed grounds. With just a handful of Bangay gardens throughout New Zealand, visitors have a rare opportunity to observe the incredible detail that goes into this renowned Australian landscape designer’s work. You’ll spot Sally Holmes and Pierre de Ronsard roses alongside white wisteria and hydrangeas, a parterre with spring tulips, a citrus garden, vegetable patches, verdant lawns, water features and exquisite stonework.
You’ll also see up close the meticulous exterior restoration of Te Mata House and its companion buildings. Visits run from 10am – 12pm Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays between October and March.
The visit is self-guided but for group bookings of ten or more, a guide is included. The cost is $20 + GST per person. Surcharges apply if the tour is on a public holiday. Garden & Heritage visits are available by appointment only. Please email us or call 021 838 904.
We’ve partnered up with Trees that count, and for every 10-guest group, we’ll be donating a tree to be planted in the Hawke’s Bay region.
* There are steps around the property. Visitors with a wheelchair or walker may experience difficulties in some areas. The Homestead is not included in the tour.
